The Details

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has disclosed that the police will deploy a minimum of four officers to every polling unit for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Disu described the exercise as one of the largest security deployments the state has witnessed.
Speaking at a meeting with civil society organisations in Abuja on Friday, the IG said Osun has 30 local governments, 332 wards, and 3,673 polling units, making it a significantly larger operation than the last election held in Anambra State, which he described as peaceful and largely free of complaints.
He said the police intend to have no fewer than four officers stationed at each of the polling units, in addition to personnel from other security agencies expected to support the police at the same locations.

The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has approved the allocation of a parcel of land in Enugu, the state capital, for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Digital Fabrication Centre by the Industrial Training Fund.
Mbah announced this while receiving a delegation from the Industrial Training Fund on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Enugu.
The ITF disclosed this on Friday in a statement signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Thomas Ngor.
According to the statement, Mbah described the proposed project as timely and aligned with his administration’s vision of transforming Enugu into a leading destination for investment, innovation and technology-driven industrial development.

The National Youth Service Corps has extended the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states due to ongoing renovation works at the orientation camps.
In a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, on NYSC’s X handle on Friday, the NYSC Management said the decision followed the continued rehabilitation of the camps by the respective state governments.
Under the revised schedule, the orientation course will now commence on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the cut-off and swearing-in ceremony will take place on Friday, August 14. The closing ceremony has been fixed for Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Cristiano Ronaldo has predicted that his eldest son, Cristiano Jr., will grow to become bigger than him, saying the teenager is already stronger than he was at the same age.
The Portugal captain remarked in a video shared by Netflix Sports on Thursday while watching Cristiano Jr. train with the Al Nassr youth team.
Speaking about his 16-year-old son, Ronaldo said, “He’s a good kid. The other ones are tougher, the ones at home, the small ones. This one is no problem.
“When I was his age, he is a little bit bigger and stronger. I was smaller. I think he will be bigger than me.”
