The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will convene its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, where critical decisions, including the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 academic session, are expected to be determined.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

According to Benjamin, the meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.

Benjamin further disclosed that the event will feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, aimed at promoting compliance with admission guidelines and improving standards in tertiary education across the country.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Kefas Ropshik, has called on stakeholders of the party to embrace unity and reconciliation following the recent Supreme Court judgment on the party’s leadership structure

Reacting to the verdict, which reportedly invalidated the convention, the Plateau State governorship aspirant described the development as a defining constitutional moment for the party, urging members to exercise restraint and avoid actions capable of deepening divisions.

Ropshik further emphasised the need for party members to respect the leadership currently recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission pending a full review of the court’s decision.

Mrs. Tomisin Edu Falade has withdrawn her ambition to contest for the House of Representatives, opting instead to run for the Akure North State House of Assembly seat.

Falade announced the decision on her arrival at the Olumuyiwa Benard Airport, Oba-Ile, Akure, where she was received by a large crowd of supporters, party loyalists and residents.

Explaining her decision, Falade said her move was informed by extensive consultations with family members, political leaders and key stakeholders across different levels.
“I am a loyal party member, and I will always uphold the decisions of our great party,” she said.

Falade used the opportunity to call on other aspirants and party members to embrace unity and peaceful engagement ahead of the elections.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has set a 30-day deadline for the US military to end its blockade of ports, saying US President, Donald Trump, must choose between an impossible military operation or a bad deal.

The comments came after Tehran sent a 14-point plan to the US calling for guarantees of non-aggression, the lifting of a naval blockade, and an end to the war “on all fronts“, including Lebanon

Responding to the new proposal, Trump said he was studying it but wasn’t sure he could make a deal with Iran, a day after he voiced frustration with a previous offer from Tehran through the mediator, Pakistan.

While Tehran wants a permanent end to the war, Trump insisted that Iran first end the effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and agree to end its uranium enrichment
